As part of the Heilbronn Smart Campus Initiative, we worked with CAMAO TEC and our project partner KODIS from Fraunhofer IAO to implement a pioneering project on AR navigation using Azure Spatial Anchors. The result is an augmented reality indoor and outdoor navigation – without GPS, without beacons, without markers and without magnetic sensors. The only requirement is an active internet connection.
We are sure that in the not too distant future, we humans will not only be able to navigate to a specific location, but seamlessly inside a building – e.g. to a specific room, or to an item in the supermarket. In any case, the necessary technology mix is already in place and working (see video).
We would be happy to advise you if you are interested in an individual AR navigation solution.
The Solution
-
Precise AR indoor and outdoor navigation without GPS, without Bluetooth beacons, without markers (such as QR codes) and without magnetic sensors
-
Seamless transition between outdoor and indoor areas
-
Any number of destinations and additional information along the routeAR navigation design can be customized
-
Works on Smartphones (iOS and Android), or on the HoloLens 2
-
Can be extended at any time to include further areas / destinations
Technology-Mix
- ARKit (Apple)
- ARCore (Google)
- Azure Spatial Anchor (Microsoft)
- Unity3D
- Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Requirements
- An active internet connection
